BRANDON DYER
Brandon Dyer
Owner | Special Operations Safety and Technical Rescue (SOS)
Brandon Dyer is a highly experienced emergency services leader with over 30 years of combined military and fire service expertise, including decades in Chicago Fire Department Special Operations and Heavy Rescue. He is the owner of Special Operations Safety and Technical Rescue (SOS), where he applies a career built on leadership, technical mastery, and real-world high-risk incident command.
He began his career in public service in the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1989 to 1993. During his four years of service, he developed the discipline, leadership, teamwork, and commitment to service that would form the foundation of his professional career.
In 1998, Brandon joined the Chicago Fire Department, where he continues to serve today. Over the course of his career, he has spent more than 25 years assigned to the department's Heavy Rescue and Special Operations companies, working in roles including Firefighter, Lieutenant, and Captain.
His technical expertise includes certifications and training in high-angle rescue, confined space rescue, water rescue, trench rescue, collapse rescue, hazardous materials operations (HazMat Technician), and EMT-Basic.
In addition to his operational career, Brandon served for 10 years as an instructor with the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI), training firefighters and emergency responders across the state.
Brandon founded Special Operations Safety and Technical Rescue to extend this level of professionalism, readiness, and expertise into the private sector — supporting companies in protecting their personnel through standby rescue, technical rescue support, safety consulting, and specialized training.
